Scrappet Kaiser Princess v1.2! Also, Stardust Butterfly!

A year has gone by since I made this game. In preparation for this year's Robot Party game jam, I went and checked in on this game again. While I still really enjoy it, coming back I was able to identify and fix a few issues with the rules, which are released here as v1.2(.1)! I've also updated the .pcio file to reflect these rule changes. Aside from cleaning up the language to make things more consistent and catching typos, there are two major rules changes.

The first one concerns Playground cleanup. In the original versions of the game, you shuffle the Playground cards. While I enjoyed the idea of not knowing what cards may still be in the Playground from day to day, the shuffling slowed down the game quite a bit (irl) and was easy to forget to do. Now, it's been changed so the leftmost-card in the Playground gets removed and a new one is added on the right. This makes it easier to keep a hold on that pesky Starter card, and basically cuts down irl game time by like a third!

The other change isn't really a change, but more of a clarification of some poorly worded rules. In v1.1, when cards are bought from the store, and the Binder is full, cards are replaced based on "age." This led to some awkward wording in having to define what exactly card age was and how to keep track of it. Looking at it with fresh eyes, the solution was simple! Bought cards go into your Binder facedown, and if the Binder is full, just replace a faceup card! So much easier to keep track of!

In other news, I mentioned this year's game jam. Judging has just recently started, and my new game (with a digital version made with a ton of help from meBID and BIG_FR0G) is one of the submissions! The game is a 3p action-drafting game called Stardust Butterfly. It's a pretty neat little game where you simultaneously work together with the other players while jostling them around. I'm still working on getting a print-and-play, but the digital and the .pcio versions are available to play, so check them out! And while you're at it, check out all the other submissions as well. As with last year, there are some really cool games, and it feels good to take part in this wacky community again! Anyway, unless I do finally sit down and start designing Scrappet Kaiser Shrink-Wrapped Crown, this might be the last time I post a devlog here... See you guys next time!
